<p>An automatic, digital tear tester equipped with an optical encoder for measuring the angular position of the pendulum during tearing and converting this measurement to tear strength units. A large, full-color touchscreen display with intuitive, easy-to-use software provides a revolutionary new approach to testing and data review.</p>
<p>Elmendorf Tear testing determines the force required to continue the tearing of an initial cut in sheet materials such as paper, plastic film, textile and non-wovens.</p>
<h3>Easy-to-use touchscreen interface</h3>
<p>The model 83-76 features a dynamic digital touchscreen user interface that allows for complete user interactivity and instrument control.  The 7” full color screen displays a resolution of 800×480 pixels and provides optimal viewability at almost any angle.</p>
<p>Software features include custom test and sample IDs, data export via RS-232 and USB, maintenance/diagnostics menus and more.</p>
<p>Calibration of the pendulum is accessed through the touchscreen interface and is completed automatically in a few simple steps.</p></div>

<p>The<span> </span><b>Internal Bond&#x2122; Tester</b><span> </span>is designed to determine the internal bond strength of a variety of Paper and Board materials according to TAPPI T 569 and ISO 16260. The instrument design is based on a falling pendulum which creates a high speed impact on a paper specimen. The paper specimen is sandwiched between two double-coated tape substrates. The pendulum impact measures the total energy required to delaminate the internal fibers of a specimen in a “Z” type direction into two plies.<br /><br /><b>An automatic sample preparation station<span> </span><br />(Model 80-30)</b><span> </span>is available which allows five specimens to be accurately pressed and cut simultaneously. The prep station includes a safety enclosure over the cutting blades, eliminating the use of box cutting knives to separate the individual test specimens.</p></div>

<p>80-20-01 calibration block set is available for verifying calibration. The block set can be used with each of the 3 available pendulums. A force verification document for each range pendulum is included.<br /><br />A set of 5 verification blocks are provided to check the operation. The block set is a proven method to insure the instrument is operating correctly. The verification procedure includes a support fixture which is clamped onto the base and supports the block. The verification block rests in the support fixture. When the pendulum swings, it contacts the block. When the block is impacted by the pendulum, the system measures the force/resistance to move the block from the support fixture.</p>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><p>A consistent method of sample preparation is necessary to insure repeatable test data. The TMI Ibond prep station automatically presses and cuts test specimens to exact requirements providing significant improvements in testing precision. The 80-30 Sample Prep Station provides a consistent adhesive transfer when pressing the test specimen between the double-sided tape and aluminum platens.<br /><br />Unlike other sample prep stations, the TMI Ibond prep station has a safety feature which automatically applies 690 kPa/100 PSI pressure and then cuts the individual test specimens. This safety feature eliminates the need to make a final cut of the individual test specimens with a box cutting knife after the specimen is pressed. The complete specimen cutting operation is automatic.<br /><br />Included with the Sample Prep Station are five aluminum platens with a sample size of 25.4 x 25.4 mm (1.0 x 1.0 inch). The clamping pressure is automatically set and calibrated to comply with TAPPI T 569 and ISO 16260. During the pressing operation, a selectable dwell time can be set by the operator from 1 &#8211; 40 seconds. The factory setting is 3 seconds in accordance with TAPPI T 569 and ISO 16260. The system is designed with a reinforced anvil to prevent deflection during sample preparation.</p>

<h2>Seal Strength/Peel Software</h2>
<p>A comprehensive peel strength and heat seal application is included with the instrument. The operator can enter a variety of peel strength parameters designed to support most international peel test and heat seal international standards. Selectable units, pre-peel and peel distance settings allow flexible test method set-up and storage. Results include average, maximum, minimum and standard deviation of an individual peel test. The 32-76e also provides result and test curve data output to GraphMaster Plus, PC-based software for data collection, test curve analysis and results storage. A selection of test fixtures is available to meet most peel applications.</p>
<p><b>T-Peel Fixture</b><span> </span>is designed to measure the adhesive force of a heat seal or adhesive bonded substrate. The fixture attaches directly to the moving arm of the 32-76 Friction/Peel tester. A second clamp attaches directly to the instrument base. Included is one set (2) of test clamps, 30.5 mm (1.5 inch) wide, capacity is 100N.</p>

<p><b>180-Degree Peel Fixture</b><span> </span>measures the release strength of a label or peeling strength of an adhesive substrate. The fixture includes one set (2) of test clamps. One clamp is attached to the load cell with a clamping width of 50.8 mm (2.0 inch) wide, maximum capacity 100N. A second clamp is attached to the instrument base, maximum sample width is 125 mm (5 inch). With this fixture, release strength of labels and tapes can be performed. Typically, the label or tape is attached to a rigid backing.</p>

<p>During the manufacture and converting process of plastic films, the material is subjected to elevated temperatures. When using a heated platen, it is common that the heated surface for most plastic films will produce an increase in COF. Normally a temperature increase will influence the friction of the packaging material. However, not all films will react in the same way to an increase in temperature. To measure this behavior, the 32-76e Friction/Peel tester is available with an optional heated platen. The temperature can be set from ambient to 162° C (325° F). The heated platen option can easily be installed in the field on an existing 32-76e unit (Part # 32-76-08). The heated platen option meets ASTM D 1894 standards for friction testing at heated temperatures.</p>
<p> <span>GraphMasterPro&#x2122; is a Windows&#x2122; based software data collection program capable of providing test curve analysis, result data, data storage, exporting and printed reports. The software automatically captures individual test results and/or raw data. In addition to collecting data from instruments manufactured by Testing Machines Inc. and Buchel BV, GraphMasterPro&#x2122; can be configured to communicate with instruments manufactured by other instrument suppliers.</span></p>

<p>Crease and Board Stiffness testing is useful to industries of carton board, paper, printing and packaging. The relationship between board stiffness and crease recovery (spring back) is an important factor in the performance of cartons on high speed packaging machines and in manual folding. It is crucial to have the creases in boards correct and uniform. The crease recovery (spring back) can result in forces, which distort the carton or cause stresses to be applied to closures, which reduce their effectiveness.</p></div>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><p>Board stiffness is determined by bending a 2 in (50mm) length of board through a 15° angle. Crease recovery is determined by holding a formed crease at 90° and measuring the recovery force after 15 seconds. This instrument measures the bending resistance of the board and evaluates commercially formed creases.</p>
<p>With interchangeable jaws to test square corner packs and round corner packs. The sample is griped in jaws and rotated through a set angle, the force transmitted through the sample is measured. To assist in accurate cutting of sample specimens, a Crease and Board Stiffness cutter is included.</p>
<p><i>**Model 79-11-00-0001 meets BS 6965 and BS 3748.<br />**Model 79-11-00-0003 meets BS 3748 and PMI 068.</i></p>
